How do we get our marriage license?
Promises in Paradise Maui will arrange your Marriage License appointment for you. All you will need is a valid photo ID, both bride and groom present, and $65.00 cash fee to the agent. We will confirm date and time and send directions to you prior to your arrival on Maui. No witnesses are required in the state of Hawaii.
Do we meet with our minister and coordinator prior to our wedding?
Not usually. By the time you arrive on Maui, we will have gone over all details for your special day via phone and emails. We'll provide cell phone contact numbers and maintain close contact with you.
What time of day is best when marrying on the beach?
Morning and late afternoon/sunset is the most popular time to have a ceremony. Although afternoon is most desirable due to the beautiful sunsets we have on Maui, and the fun of going out to a spectacular dinner after; you must remember it gets quite hot on the beach. It's easy to forget how hot it may be in your formal attire. Morning weddings are cool, there is less chance another ceremony will be happening on the same beach, and you have the whole day to enjoy the island.
When will we receive our wedding DVD and photos?
Your photographer/videographer will speak with you after your wedding regarding the pick-up/drop-off options. Edited Video production takes 14-21 days to complete. Your photographer will contact you within 2 days to review your photos.
We are having our wedding on a beach; will there be other people/weddings on the beach?
If you are marrying on a beach, there may be other weddings happening on the same beach. Most of the time there is plenty of beautiful beach room for everyone. However, if you would like a very private affair you should consider a private location. Depending on the location, price varies from $500 and up.
Is it appropriate to wear a wedding gown on the beach?
You can wear whatever attire you like. Formal wear, aloha shirt and sun dress, or even a sarong and sexy bikini top. Just remember if you're having an afternoon ceremony, formal attire may get a little hot.
How do we handle tips? What is an appropriate amount if I wish to tip?
We are asked this a lot. Due to Maui being a resort destination tipping is part of our culture. However, gratuities are always optional and it's up to you to make that gesture or not. $20 is a pretty standard amount for wedding service providers such as Photographers, Videographers, Musicians, and On-Site Coordinators. Again this is optional and always greatly appreciated.
What can we expect from Promises in Paradise Maui, once we've secured our wedding date with a deposit?
Once your deposit is received and your contract is signed, we will send you a packet with custom information to help you gather your wedding plans. We will start reserving vendors to fit your personalities, and correspond via phone and email on details. The fun begins in creating your ideal wedding. We are here to answer any questions you may have. If you get our voice mail, know that we will call you ASAP. If we are on-site at a wedding that day, you may not be able to get us since we are giving our ultimate attention to that client, as you will receive the same devoted attention. Also within that packet you will receive helpful island information and brochures for fun activities on Maui.
We're here to make your Maui wedding the most memorable experience you've shared together. Our coordinators are all born and raised here in Hawaii; any questions we can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. We know the very best Maui has to offer.
